Enhancing Student Learning with Technology - How can technology be woven into the curriculum to enhance student learning in all subject areas? In this workshop, participants take on the role of student as they experience lessons specifically tailored to your state curricular goals. Research-based instructional strategies and theories will be paired with powerful technology use to model how technology can be infused into any curriculum. The instructor will model how instructional theories like constructivism, cooperative learning, multiple intelligences, brain-based learning, and differentiation can be used to enhance learning. Participants will leave with lesson plans and instructional strategies that can be immediately used in their teaching environment. Audience: K-12 classroom teachers and administrators. Maximum 25 participants per workshop. Lesson Plans that Get Results! - State tests, curriculum requirements, NCLB—with so many demands, it is increasingly important for teachers to be able to write quality lesson plans that focus on objectives, activate prior knowledge, introduce and apply new knowledge, and assess understanding. The instructor will model one lesson, as participants explore the parts of a quality lesson and write their own lesson plan utilizing a research-based format. Teachers should bring their curriculum and textbooks, and be ready to write a great lesson to use in their classroom! This workshop can be combined with Instructional Design Theory for a complete lesson plan development training. Audience: K-12 classroom teachers and administrators. Maximum 25 participants per session. Literacy Through Technology - Using the enGauge 21st Century Skills as a guide, this workshop will help teachers learn to focus on integrating technology into literacy instruction using tools including websites, concept mapping, word processing, and spreadsheets. Teachers will participate in model lessons designed to improve students’ literacy skills, and leave with strategies and resources that can be utilized in their classroom. Audience: This workshop can be focused on grades 3-5 or 6-8. Maximum 25 participants per session. Using Rubrics to Assess Learning - Rubrics can be a powerful tool in student assessment, but many teachers are unclear how to best use them in their classroom. This session covers the basics of what rubrics are and how to create them, how and when to use them in the classroom, and what tools are available to teachers to generate rubrics online. Audience: K-12 classroom teachers and administrators. Maximum 25 participants per session. Hardware/Software Specific Training - With ever-changing technology and limited time, it can be difficult for school staff to keep up! To get the most out of hardware and software funds, technology professional development is a key component. Name the hardware/software, and I will provide hands-on, step-by-step training and instructions, as well as practical ideas for how to use the product with students. Audience and number of participants vary depending on hardware/software involved. Instructional Design Theory - Research-based instructional strategies are everywhere, but exactly what does the research say about what makes lesson plans effective? Participants will actively engage in one lesson that utilizes three components—activating, cognitive, and summarizing activities. This workshop combines a discussion of theory with practical applications and hands-on activities to bring concepts to life. This workshop can be combined with Lesson Plans that Get Results for a complete lesson plan development training. Audience: K-12 classroom teachers and administrators. Maximum 25 participants per session. School Technology Planning - Write a meaningful school technology plan—one that states your school’s goals with respect to technology’s role in instruction, will guide the instruction and purchasing in your school, and will be easy to implement and evaluate. This workshop will walk your school team through the entire process, resulting in a school technology plan that won’t be abandoned on the shelf! Audience: School leadership and/or technology teams of 6-10 people per school. Teams from up to 3 schools can attend the same workshop. |
